Monitor Audio CPC120 In-Ceiling Speaker (Single)

The Monitor Audio CPC120 is the most compact speaker in the Controlled Performance architectural range, designed to fit a standard halogen downlighter cutout. At just 80mm in overall diameter, it delivers coherent, detailed sound from a form factor that disappears into the ceiling alongside existing lighting fixtures.

Controlled Performance Enclosure

Unlike open-back in-ceiling speakers whose bass response varies with wall and ceiling construction, the CPC120 uses a dedicated rigid, mineral-filled rear enclosure. This sealed chamber controls the air volume behind the driver, improving midrange and bass consistency regardless of the ceiling void or insulation material surrounding the speaker. The enclosure is machined from aluminium, contributing to the CPC120’s robust, precision-engineered build.

Driver & Performance

A single 2″ full-range micro-driver handles the entire frequency band from 100Hz to 20kHz. Despite its miniature scale, the driver draws on the same engineering principles used across Monitor Audio’s larger speaker ranges, allowing the CPC120 to blend sonically with floor-standing, standmount, in-wall, and in-ceiling systems for a cohesive multi-room or surround installation. Sensitivity is rated at 85dB (1W @ 1m) with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms.

Installation

The CPC120 requires a 65mm cutout — the same diameter as a standard halogen downlight — with a mounting depth of 91.5mm. Two spring-clip fixings secure the speaker from above, making installation quick and tool-free once the hole is cut. Gold-plated push-type terminals at the rear accept bare wire or pin connectors.

Bezel Options

Four interchangeable bezel finishes are available — Brushed Steel, White, Chrome, and Brass — allowing the CPC120 to match existing downlighter trims and room décor.
