Monitor Audio CP-WT380-IDC In-Wall Speaker (Single)

The CP-WT380IDC sits at the top of Monitor Audio’s Controlled Performance in-wall range, combining the company’s proprietary Inverted Dual Concentric (IDC) driver module with a large-format bass driver and a fully sealed back box. As a Controlled Performance model, it ships with an integrated airtight enclosure that provides an ideal air load for the drivers, ensuring consistent mid-range and bass performance regardless of the wall construction behind it.

IDC Driver Technology

At the heart of the CP-WT380IDC is Monitor Audio’s pivoting IDC module, which houses a 100 mm (4″) C-CAM RST midrange driver and a 25 mm (1″) C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter in a coaxial arrangement. The module pivots up to 18° in all directions, allowing installers to aim the mid and high frequencies directly at the listening position even when the speaker cannot be mounted at ear height. This maintains tonal accuracy and imaging in rooms where installation constraints would otherwise compromise performance.

Bass Driver & Construction

Low-frequency duties are handled by a 203 mm (8″) C-CAM bass driver featuring Monitor Audio’s Rigid Surface Technology (RST) — a dimpled cone profile that increases stiffness without adding mass. The result is deeper bass extension down to 50 Hz and higher output capability than the smaller models in the Controlled Performance lineup. The driver is mounted in a die-cast aluminium front baffle for rigidity and low resonance.

Tuning & Room Adaptation

Three sets of onboard controls allow the installer to tailor the speaker’s output to the room. Separate high-frequency and midrange level adjustments (±3 dB each) compensate for room acoustics and listener preference, while a dedicated boundary compensation control reduces bass reinforcement when the speaker is installed close to a corner or ceiling junction.

Installation

The CP-WT380IDC uses Monitor Audio’s Tri-Grip fixing system — a set of dog clamps that grip the plasterboard from behind, providing a secure, vibration-resistant mount without the need for additional framework. The magnetic steel grille sits flush and is easily removable; its surface is paintable, and scrim material is included so the grille can be finished to match any décor.
