Monitor Audio CP-WT260 In-Wall Speaker (Single)

The Monitor Audio CP-WT260 is a two-way in-wall speaker from the Controlled Performance series, designed to deliver high-fidelity sound from a fully flush-mounted installation. The Controlled Performance range is characterised by its sealed back box construction, which provides a precisely controlled air load for the drivers — eliminating the unpredictable acoustic effects of mounting into open wall cavities and ensuring consistent bass and midrange performance regardless of wall construction or insulation.

Driver Technology

The CP-WT260 pairs a 152mm (6″) C-CAM bass driver with a 25mm (1″) C-CAM gold dome tweeter. C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium) is Monitor Audio’s signature driver cone material, combining the lightness and rigidity of an aluminium/magnesium alloy with a hard ceramic surface layer. The result is a driver that is stiff enough to resist breakup across its operating band while remaining light enough for high sensitivity — the CP-WT260 achieves 88 dB at 1W/1m.

The gold dome tweeter pivots on its mounting, allowing the high-frequency dispersion pattern to be aimed toward the primary listening position even when the speaker is installed off-axis. A three-position HF level switch (±3 dB) provides further control, enabling the installer to compensate for room acoustics or absorptive furnishings. A separate boundary compensation switch tunes the bass response for installations near room corners or wall junctions, where boundary reinforcement can otherwise cause bass emphasis.

Installation & Construction

The enclosure is moulded from mineral-filled ABS plastic (RoHS2 compliant), and the sealed back box construction protects each driver against the ingress of dust and debris from the wall cavity. Installation uses Monitor Audio’s patented Tri-Grip fixing system — six dog-leg clamps that engage three times the surface area of conventional toggle clamps, pulling the speaker firmly against the plasterboard and maximising the acoustic seal between the speaker and the wall. The cut-out required is 381 × 228mm, with a mounting depth of 96mm.

The steel grille attaches magnetically and can be removed without tools. Both the grille and the surrounding bezel are paintable, and an additional scrim material is included to mask the drivers during painting. For new-build installations, the optional WB8 pre-construction bracket can be fixed to the stud frame before plasterboard is fitted, marking the exact speaker position for the plasterer.
