Monitor Audio CP-CT380 In-Ceiling Speaker (Single)

The CP-CT380 is the flagship in-ceiling speaker in Monitor Audio's Controlled Performance range, pairing an 8-inch C-CAM bass driver with Rigid Surface Technology (RST) alongside a 25mm C-CAM pivoting gold dome tweeter. RST deploys a pattern of dimples across the cone surface to increase stiffness without adding mass, reducing distortion and allowing higher sound pressure levels from a lighter, more responsive diaphragm. The same cone technology is used in Monitor Audio's range-topping home audio speaker systems.

Controlled Performance Design

Like all speakers in the Controlled Performance range, the CP-CT380 is fitted with a fully sealed, mineral-filled back box. This rigid enclosure provides an ideal, consistent air load for the drivers regardless of the wall or ceiling cavity behind it, optimising mid-range and bass performance while reducing rear-radiated sound by approximately 30 dB. The sealed design also prevents dust and moisture ingress, making the speaker suitable for installation in a wide variety of ceiling environments.

Directional Control & Room Tuning

The C-CAM gold dome tweeter pivots to direct high-frequency energy toward the primary listening position, compensating for off-axis ceiling placement. A high-frequency level adjustment switch offers +3 dB, 0 dB, and −3 dB settings, allowing the installer to tailor treble output to room acoustics and furnishings. Boundary compensation controls further refine the low-frequency response when the speaker is mounted close to a wall or ceiling junction.

Installation

The CP-CT380 uses Monitor Audio's Tri-Grip fixing system, which clamps the speaker into the ceiling cut-out with three evenly spaced grip points rather than conventional toggle clamps. Tri-Grip provides approximately three times the contact area of a standard fixing, creating a better surface seal that maximises bass response and mid-range clarity. Installation is tool-free and the fixing distributes force evenly to avoid ceiling flex. A magnetic, paintable steel grille sits flush with the ceiling surface and can be finished to match any décor.
