The Monitor Audio C150 is a dedicated centre channel speaker from Monitor Audio’s Monitor Series — the entry-level range that introduced the brand’s signature MMP II driver technology and playful design cues to a wider audience. Sitting below the Bronze, Silver, and Gold ranges, the Monitor Series targets home cinema systems where clear dialogue reproduction is the priority without demanding a large budget.

Driver Technology

The C150 employs a 2½-way MTM (midrange–tweeter–midrange) configuration with twin 5½-inch MMP II (Metal Matrix Polymer) bass/midrange drivers flanking a 25mm black C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium Magnesium) dome tweeter. The MMP II cones feature Monitor Audio’s distinctive orange translucent finish — a visual hallmark of the Monitor Series that also reflects the cone’s rigid polymer composite construction. The C-CAM tweeter is derived from the technology used in Monitor Audio’s award-winning Bronze series, delivering controlled high-frequency dispersion across a wide listening area.

Cabinet Design

The sealed cabinet is a deliberate choice for a centre channel speaker. Unlike ported enclosures, a sealed design eliminates rear-firing port noise and allows the C150 to be positioned flat against a wall or inside an AV cabinet without compromising bass performance. The compact 455mm width fits comfortably beneath most televisions or on a shelf within an entertainment unit.

Performance

With 8 ohm nominal impedance and 88 dB sensitivity, the C150 is an undemanding load for any AV receiver or amplifier rated between 20 and 100 watts per channel. The twin MMP II drivers in MTM arrangement provide a broad horizontal dispersion pattern, ensuring dialogue clarity is maintained for listeners seated across the room rather than only on-axis. Frequency response extends from 60 Hz to 30 kHz, and the speaker is capable of reaching a maximum SPL of 111 dBA.

HiVe II Technology

The C150 incorporates Monitor Audio’s HiVe II (High Velocity, Low Noise) reflex port technology. This proprietary port design reduces turbulence at the port exit, resulting in an improved transient response and tighter, more controlled bass output — particularly noticeable during action sequences and low-frequency sound effects in film soundtracks.
