Monitor Audio Bronze C 7G Centre Speaker Black

The Bronze Centre 7G is the dedicated centre-channel speaker in Monitor Audio’s seventh-generation Bronze Series — the entry point to the company’s loudspeaker range. Sitting below the Silver and Gold Series in the hierarchy, the Bronze 7G lineup shares the same C-CAM driver technology used throughout Monitor Audio’s higher ranges, adapted here for a more accessible price point. The Centre 7G pairs with the Bronze 50 7G bookshelf and Bronze 300 7G floorstanding speakers, plus the Bronze AMS 7G Dolby Atmos module and Bronze On-Wall 7G, to form a complete home cinema system.

Driver Technology

The Bronze Centre 7G uses twin 6-inch C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium Magnesium) bass-midrange drivers flanking a 25mm C-CAM gold dome tweeter. C-CAM is Monitor Audio’s proprietary driver cone material — a thin aluminium-magnesium alloy with a hard ceramic surface coating that combines low mass with high rigidity. The result is a driver that moves as a true piston across its operating range, reducing the break-up modes that colour the sound in less rigid cone materials.

The tweeter is fitted with Monitor Audio’s UD (Uniform Directivity) Waveguide II, which controls the tweeter’s dispersion pattern to deliver a wider, more consistent soundstage and improved time alignment with the bass-mid drivers. This is particularly important in a centre-channel speaker, where off-axis listeners still need to hear clear, intelligible dialogue.

Cabinet Construction

The Centre 7G uses a sealed (acoustic suspension) cabinet rather than a ported design. A sealed enclosure trades some low-end extension for tighter, faster bass and more predictable roll-off behaviour — characteristics well suited to dialogue reproduction, where speed and clarity matter more than deep bass reach. Despite the sealed loading, the Bronze Centre 7G still extends down to 50 Hz at -6dB in-room, a notable improvement over the previous 6G generation which reached 66 Hz.

For the 7G generation, Monitor Audio has upgraded to plywood front baffles across the entire Bronze range. Plywood is stiffer and better damped than MDF at the same thickness, improving cabinet rigidity and providing a more inert mounting surface for the drivers. The black and walnut finishes feature a black stained real wood veneer on the baffle, while the white finish exposes the natural plywood grain at the sides for a contrasting two-tone appearance.

Home Cinema Integration

As the centre channel in a Bronze 7G system, this speaker handles the bulk of film dialogue and vocal content. It shares the same C-CAM tweeter and bass-mid driver complement as the rest of the range, ensuring a consistent tonal signature as sound pans across the front soundstage. The sealed cabinet and twin 6-inch drivers deliver the dynamic headroom needed for complex soundtracks, with a maximum SPL of 119 dB (AES75, Z-weighted) and 120 W continuous power handling.

Monitor Audio recommends driving the Bronze Centre 7G with an amplifier rated between 30 and 120 W into 8 Ohms, or 60 to 140 W into 4 Ohms. The nominal 8 Ohm impedance with a 4.3 Ohm minimum at 200 Hz makes it an easy load for most AV receivers.
