The Bronze 50 7G is the compact bookshelf speaker in Monitor Audio’s seventh-generation Bronze range — sitting below the Bronze 300 7G floorstander and alongside the Bronze Centre 7G and Bronze AMS 7G Atmos module. It is designed to deliver detailed, room-filling sound from a cabinet compact enough for shelf or stand placement, making it equally suited to stereo listening and as part of a Bronze 7G home cinema system.
Driver Technology
The Bronze 50 7G uses Monitor Audio’s proprietary C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium Magnesium) driver material across both its tweeter and bass-mid unit. The 25mm C-CAM gold dome tweeter is thinner, lighter and more rigid than the previous 6th-generation design, protected by an aluminium-etched hexagonal grille. It is paired with a UD (Uniform Dispersion) Waveguide II, which improves time alignment between the drivers and allows a lower crossover frequency for wider directivity across the listening area.
The 6-inch C-CAM bass-mid driver features a larger voice coil than its predecessor — 28.5mm compared to 25mm in the 6G — along with large magnets that contribute to higher power handling and sensitivity. The result is a driver capable of fast, controlled cone movement with reduced break-up across its operating range.
Cabinet & Port Design
The Bronze 50 7G employs a two-way ported cabinet with Monitor Audio’s HiVe II port technology, tuned to 47 Hz. The front baffle is constructed from plywood, which improves cabinet rigidity and provides a solid mounting platform for the drivers, helping to minimise unwanted resonance. Three finishes are available: black, white and walnut. The white finish features exposed plywood at the sides for contrast, while the black and walnut finishes use a black stained real wood veneer for the baffle.
Crossover & Performance
The crossover network has been optimised over many hundreds of hours of listening, using high-quality capacitors and transistors. It crosses over between the bass-mid driver and tweeter at 3.0 kHz, and the speaker achieves a frequency response of 41 Hz – 30 kHz (in-room, −6 dB). Sensitivity is rated at 86 dB (2.83 Vrms at 1 m, free-field) with a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms, making it an easy load for most amplifiers. Monitor Audio recommends amplifier power of 30–100 W into 8 Ω or 50–200 W into 4 Ω.
System Flexibility
As part of the Bronze 7G family, the Bronze 50 pairs naturally with the Bronze Centre 7G for dialogue duties, the Bronze AMS 7G for Dolby Atmos height channels, and the W10 subwoofer for extended low-frequency output. An optional ST-2 floor stand is available for dedicated stand placement. All Bronze 7G models share the same C-CAM driver technology and tonal character, ensuring seamless sonic matching across a full surround system.
