Monitor Audio Apex A10 — Compact Satellite Speaker

The Apex A10 is Monitor Audio’s compact satellite speaker from the Apex series, designed to deliver serious performance from a remarkably small enclosure. Built around a rigid die-cast alloy cabinet finished in high-gloss metallic lacquer, the A10 combines Monitor Audio’s proprietary driver technologies with a design intended for both stereo music and home cinema surround duties.

Driver Technology

At the heart of the A10 is a 140mm (5½″) RST (Rigid Surface Technology) mid-bass driver paired with a 25mm (1″) C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter. RST uses a dimpled cone surface — inspired by the dimple pattern on a golf ball — to increase rigidity without adding mass, reducing break-up modes and extending the usable frequency range of the driver. The C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium) gold dome tweeter is a Monitor Audio signature, offering wide dispersion and extended high-frequency response up to 35kHz.

Cabinet & Port Design

The die-cast alloy enclosure is inherently rigid and well-damped, eliminating the resonance issues common to lightweight MDF cabinets of this size. The front-ported bass reflex design uses Monitor Audio’s HiVe® II (High Velocity, low noise) port system, which features a rifled internal surface to smooth airflow and reduce port turbulence at high output levels. This allows the A10 to produce bass response down to 60Hz despite its compact dimensions of just 250 × 140 × 140mm.

Installation

The A10 ships with an integrated table stand and is also wall-mountable, making it versatile for surround-channel placement in home cinema systems. Magnetic grilles are included. When paired with the Apex A40 centre speaker and the Apex AW-12 subwoofer, the A10 forms part of a complete Apex surround sound system.
