The Milty Zerostat 3 is the third generation of Milty's long-established anti-static gun, designed to neutralise static build-up on vinyl records and audio equipment. Static discharge is a persistent problem in dry environments, attracting dust and causing the surface noise — snap, crackle, and pop — that degrades playback quality. Unlike antistatic sprays, the Zerostat 3 leaves no polymer residue on record surfaces.
How It Works
The Zerostat 3 uses piezoelectric technology to generate a stream of ions without any external power source. Squeezing the trigger slowly projects a stream of positive ions over a spread of approximately 41cm (16 inches). Releasing the trigger slowly generates negative ions. Together, these opposing ion streams neutralise static charges on whatever surface they contact. The effect is durable — providing static reduction measurable in hours after each use.
A built-in neon indicator glows red when the trigger is squeezed, confirming that the ion-generating circuit is functioning correctly. This allows users to verify the device is operating before each session without any separate test equipment.
Durability and Maintenance
The Zerostat 3 requires no batteries, electrical supply, or refillable gas cartridges. The piezoelectric mechanism is rated for a minimum of 50,000 trigger operations, making it a long-term investment for regular vinyl users. There are no consumable parts to replace.
Usage
Hold the Zerostat 3 approximately 30cm (12 inches) from the record surface and apply three to five slow trigger squeezes per side before playback. Sustained, deliberate trigger pulls produce the most effective ion output. In addition to vinyl records, the device is suitable for use on CDs, DVDs, and plastic dust covers.
