The Milty Record Brush is the manufacturer’s dedicated pre-play cleaning tool for vinyl records. Developed by Milty — part of the Goldring group and a specialist in anti-static products — it uses thousands of conductive carbon fibre filaments to remove the smallest dust particles from deep within the record groove, whilst simultaneously discharging the residual static charge that would otherwise continue to attract airborne dust back to the record surface.
Carbon Fibre Technology
The brush head is packed with conductive carbon fibre filaments. These reach down into the microscopic groove geometry of an LP to dislodge and lift embedded dust particles that a conventional fibre brush cannot reach. The conductive nature of the carbon fibre is central to the anti-static function: as the filaments sweep the groove, they bleed the electrostatic charge that vinyl accumulates through handling and playback, neutralising it at source rather than simply redistributing it.
In Use
The Milty Record Brush is designed for dry use only and is intended to be applied while the record spins on the turntable immediately prior to playback. Holding the brush lightly in contact with a rotating record allows the filaments to sweep the full playing surface in a single pass. It is not a wet-cleaning tool and should not be used with cleaning fluid.
The brush incorporates a hinged protective blade for cleaning the filaments between uses. This removes accumulated debris from the bristle bed without requiring direct finger contact with the filaments, preserving their alignment and conductivity over time.
