The Marantz TT-15S1 is a manually operated belt-drive turntable and the flagship vinyl playback product in the Marantz range. It is built around a high-density acrylic chassis and platter chosen for their low-resonance properties, with the aim of minimising any colouration introduced by the mechanical structure itself. Three substantial isolation feet decouple the chassis from the supporting surface, providing a stable and vibration-resistant platform.
Drive System
The TT-15S1 uses a belt-drive configuration with an endless silicone belt. The AC motor is mounted in a floating arrangement, mechanically isolated from the main chassis to prevent motor-borne vibration from being transmitted to the platter and stylus. Playback speeds of 33-1/3 and 45 RPM are supported, with the belt adjusted manually between speeds.
Bearing & Platter
The main bearing uses a ceramic element, providing smooth, low-friction rotation and long-term dimensional stability. The high-density acrylic platter contributes to resonance control and provides a consistent surface for record playback. An integrated felt mat is fitted to the platter as standard.
Cartridge & Tonearm
The TT-15S1 is supplied factory-fitted with the Clearaudio Virtuoso Ebony moving-magnet cartridge. The Virtuoso Ebony is a premium MM cartridge featuring an ebony cantilever, and produces a rated output of 3mV at 1kHz with a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz and a signal-to-noise ratio of 80dB. The tonearm assembly features a precision bearing mechanism with independent anti-skate adjustment.
Included Accessories
A “Clever Clamp” record clamp is supplied with the TT-15S1. Placed over the spindle during playback, the clamp couples the record to the platter surface to reduce resonance and improve contact consistency. Standard RCA phono outputs and a ground terminal are provided for connection to an external MM phono stage or a preamplifier with a phono input.
