Marantz PM7000N Streaming Amplifier Black

The Marantz PM7000N sits within Marantz's premium two-channel range as a streaming-capable integrated amplifier, positioned above the PM6007 and below the flagship MODEL 40n. It is the first Marantz integrated amplifier to combine a fully discrete current feedback power stage with HEOS Built-in network streaming, bridging the gap between traditional hi-fi amplification and modern wireless music access.

Current Feedback Amplification with HDAM-SA3

At the core of the PM7000N is Marantz's proprietary current feedback topology, a circuit architecture that differs fundamentally from the voltage feedback designs used in most integrated amplifiers. Current feedback provides inherently wider bandwidth and faster slew rates, allowing the amplifier to track high-frequency transients with greater precision. The PM7000N implements this through Marantz's HDAM-SA3 (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module) discrete components, which replace conventional integrated op-amps. These modules deliver measurably lower noise and higher slew rates than their IC equivalents, contributing to the amplifier's 5 Hz – 100 kHz frequency response (±3 dB).

Power Supply and Output Stage

The PM7000N employs a toroidal transformer feeding a linear drive power supply with high-speed instantaneous current delivery. The Class A/B output stage produces 60 watts per channel into 8 ohms (80 watts into 4 ohms), measured across the full 20 Hz – 20 kHz bandwidth at 0.02% THD. A damping factor of 100 or greater ensures tight control over loudspeaker driver excursion, particularly beneficial with demanding bookshelf and floorstanding designs. The symmetric PCB layout minimises channel-to-channel interference.

Phono Stage and Analogue Connectivity

The PM7000N includes a dedicated MM phono equaliser with 2.0 mV sensitivity at 47 kΩ input impedance and RIAA deviation of ±0.5 dB across 20 Hz – 20 kHz. Four additional line-level analogue inputs (all gold-plated RCA) and a subwoofer pre-output provide flexible analogue connectivity. A Source Direct mode bypasses tone controls and the display circuit to shorten the signal path for critical listening.

Digital Inputs and Hi-Res Audio

Three wired digital inputs — one coaxial and two optical — accept PCM up to 192 kHz/24-bit. A rear-panel USB-A port handles WAV, FLAC, AIFF, and ALAC files at up to 192 kHz/24-bit, plus DSD at 2.8 MHz and 5.6 MHz (the native format of SACD). The digital boards are shielded and can be completely switched off using Pure Mode to eliminate any interference with the analogue stages.

HEOS Built-in and Wireless Streaming

The PM7000N integrates the HEOS multi-room platform developed by Marantz and sister brand Denon, providing access to Spotify Connect, Tidal, Deezer, Amazon Music, Qobuz, internet radio, and local network music servers over Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n) or wired Ethernet. AirPlay 2 is built in for native Apple ecosystem integration, and Bluetooth 4.1 (SBC codec) provides a convenient wireless connection for mobile devices. Voice control is supported through Apple Siri, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant.

Design and Build

The PM7000N features a metal front panel with a low-noise OLED display, aluminium extrusion heatsinks, and Marantz's signature porthole design. Linear volume, bass, and treble controls with balance adjustment are provided, along with a headphone output with gain control. The included RC004PM remote control offers system-wide operation. Designed and tuned at Marantz facilities in Europe and Japan.
