Marantz PM6007 Integrated Amplifier Black

The Marantz PM6007 is the latest in Marantz’s long-running 6000 series of integrated stereo amplifiers, succeeding the PM6006 UK Edition. Sitting below the PM7000N and the premium Model 30 in the Marantz amplifier hierarchy, the PM6007 delivers 45 watts per channel into 8 ohms (60 watts into 4 ohms) through a Class A/B topology, combining analogue and digital inputs in a compact chassis that has defined the entry point to serious Marantz hi-fi for over a decade.

Current Feedback Amplifier with HDAM

At the heart of the PM6007 is Marantz’s Current Feedback Amplifier topology, which provides wide-bandwidth, high-speed signal reproduction. The output stage uses Marantz’s proprietary HDAM-SA3 (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module) discrete circuit boards in place of standard integrated circuits. These surface-mount modules are arranged in short, mirror-image left/right signal paths and deliver a significantly higher slew rate with lower noise than conventional op-amps, resulting in more dynamic and detailed sound reproduction. The HDAM-SA2 variant is also used in the pre-amplifier stage.

A toroidal power transformer and custom block capacitors form a high-current power supply that maintains a large energy reserve, allowing the PM6007 to drive demanding speakers with authority. Advanced thermal compensation circuitry prevents memory distortion, ensuring clean amplification regardless of operating temperature.

Digital-to-Analogue Conversion

The PM6007 is equipped with an AK4490 DAC supporting up to 192 kHz/24-bit resolution across its digital inputs. A two-mode digital filter (Filter 1 / Filter 2) allows listeners to tailor the sound to their preference: Filter 1 uses a slow roll-off characteristic that enhances stereo imaging depth, while Filter 2 applies a sharp roll-off for more precise imaging.

Phono Stage

Continuing the tradition of high-quality built-in phono stages in Marantz integrated amplifiers, the PM6007 features a newly designed MM phono circuit first introduced in the PM7000N. This circuit integrates field-effect transistors (FETs) in the input stage, delivering high input impedance and eliminating the need for AC coupling capacitors. The result is a simplified signal path with lower distortion and noise, providing improved signal purity for vinyl playback. Phono input sensitivity is rated at 2.2 mV with a 47 kΩ input impedance.

Connectivity

The PM6007 offers five analogue RCA inputs (including the MM phono input), one coaxial digital input, and two optical digital inputs. A subwoofer output is included for those who wish to augment their stereo system with a powered subwoofer. Speaker terminals are gold-plated screw-type connectors arranged in four terminals for A/B speaker switching. A front-panel headphone output with gain control is also provided. All analogue connections use gold-plated RCA connectors.

Controls and Operation

Front-panel controls include bass, treble, balance, and loudness adjustments, along with a Source Direct mode that bypasses tone controls for the purest signal path. The PM6007 features an auto power-off function and consumes just 0.3 watts in standby. The unit ships with the RC004MCD remote control.
