Marantz NR1711 7.2 Channel 8K AV Receiver Silver Gold

The Marantz NR1711 is the brand’s slimline 7.2-channel AV receiver, delivering full home cinema performance from a chassis just 105mm tall. Sitting within Marantz’s NR series — designed for installations where rack depth and height are constrained — the NR1711 pairs 8K video processing with the company’s signature musical tuning, overseen by their in-house sound masters. It replaces the NR1710, adding 8K/60Hz pass-through, 4K/120Hz gaming support, and HDMI 2.1 features including ALLM, VRR, QMS, and QFT.

Amplification

The NR1711 uses a discrete high-current power amplifier section across all seven channels, rated at 50W per channel into 8Ω (20Hz–20kHz, 0.08% THD, two channels driven) or 70W per channel into 6Ω (1kHz, 0.7% THD). Despite the slimline form factor, every channel receives identical power — there is no reduction for surround or height channels. The low-impedance drive capability provides strong speaker control, particularly with harder-to-drive bookshelf and satellite speakers commonly used in compact installations. An Auto Eco mode adjusts power output based on volume level, reducing consumption in real time without compromising the Marantz sound signature.

Surround Sound Processing

The receiver supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding with up to 5.1.2 speaker configurations, enabling overhead height channels via ceiling-mounted or Atmos-enabled upfiring speakers. For systems without physical height speakers, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualisation and DTS Virtual:X create virtual height effects from a conventional 5.1 or 7.1 layout. The seven amplifier channels can be configured as 7.1, 5.1 with stereo Zone B, 5.1 with front bi-amping, or 5.1.2 for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X height channels.

8K Video & HDMI Connectivity

Six rear-mounted HDMI inputs and one output handle all source connections. One dedicated 8K HDMI input supports the full 8K/60Hz specification, while all six inputs support 4K/120Hz pass-through for gaming, along with Dolby Vision, HLG, HDR10+, Dynamic HDR, 4:4:4 Pure Colour sub-sampling, 21:9 video, and BT.2020 pass-through under HDCP 2.3. The eARC-enabled HDMI output returns lossless audio formats from compatible televisions. HDMI standby pass-through allows the connected display to receive a signal even when the receiver is in standby.

Gaming Features

The NR1711 supports 4K/120Hz pass-through alongside Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Quick Frame Transport (QFT), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and Quick Media Switching (QMS). These HDMI 2.1 features reduce input lag, eliminate frame tearing, and provide smoother transitions between content types — particularly beneficial for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X gaming.

Streaming & Multi-Room

HEOS Built-in provides access to streaming services including Spotify Connect, Tidal, Deezer, Amazon Music, and TuneIn internet radio, with support for high-resolution audio formats up to FLAC and WAV at 192kHz/24-bit, ALAC at 192kHz/24-bit, and DSD up to 5.6MHz. The receiver integrates into a HEOS multi-room system, allowing synchronised playback with other HEOS-enabled devices throughout the home. AirPlay 2 support enables streaming from Apple devices, while Bluetooth provides quick wireless connection from any paired source.

Voice Control & Room Correction

The NR1711 works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Siri for hands-free voice control of volume, input selection, and playback. Audyssey MultEQ room correction with Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume analyses the listening environment and adjusts the frequency response to compensate for room acoustics, maintaining tonal balance at all volume levels.

Analogue & Legacy Connectivity

Beyond HDMI, the NR1711 provides a built-in phono stage for moving-magnet cartridges, three analogue audio inputs, one optical and one coaxial digital audio input, two component video inputs with one output, three composite video inputs with one output, and dual subwoofer outputs. An FM tuner with RDS is included. Dual-band Wi-Fi and Ethernet provide network connectivity.
