Marantz Model 60n Network Integrated Amplifier Black

The Marantz Model 60n is a network integrated amplifier that sits in the mid tier of the Marantz range, positioned above the PM7000n and below the Model 40n. It is engineered to combine serious stereo amplification with comprehensive streaming and connectivity, making it a capable hub for a modern hi-fi system. The Model 60n received the EISA Streaming Amplifier 2025-2026 award, recognising its versatility and musical character.

Amplification

The Model 60n delivers 60 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 80 watts into 4 ohms, using a Class A/B topology with current feedback. Marantz proprietary HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module) circuits in SA3 and SA2 configurations are employed throughout the signal path, a design approach Marantz has refined across its amplifier range to achieve low noise and high current capability. The power supply is a toroidal transformer with a linear drive stage, and Schottky diodes are used in the rectification stage. The circuit board layout is symmetric, and the chassis is fitted with an aluminium extrusion heat sink. A Source Direct mode bypasses the tone controls to preserve signal purity, and separate Bass and Treble controls are provided when correction is wanted.

Streaming and Connectivity

HEOS is built in, bringing multi-room audio capability alongside AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Spotify Connect, and Tidal Connect. The amplifier supports both Wi-Fi and wired LAN connections, and is certified Roon Ready. High-resolution audio up to 24-bit/192kHz PCM and DSD 4X (11.2MHz) is supported, with lossless formats including FLAC, ALAC, WAV, and DSD/DSF. The HEOS app for iOS and Android provides access to Tidal, Deezer, Amazon Music HD, TuneIn, SoundCloud, and other streaming services. Gapless playback is supported.

Inputs and Outputs

Four analogue line-level inputs are provided (CD, Line 1, and Line 2 on RCA, plus MM phono), covering CD players, turntables, and other analogue sources. Digital inputs include coaxial S/PDIF, optical TOS-Link, and a rear USB-A port for USB Mass Storage devices. HDMI ARC allows the amplifier to receive audio from a television, making it straightforward to integrate with a TV setup. A preamp output and a mono subwoofer output support system expansion. A 3.5mm headphone socket is fitted on the front panel. The front panel also carries an input selector, Source Direct switch, Bass, Treble, and Balance controls, and a circular low-noise OLED monochrome display showing input and volume level.

Design

The Model 60n uses the distinctive Marantz industrial design language, with a metal front panel, the characteristic circular display window at the centre, and textured diamond-pattern side cheeks. The chassis measures 442 x 431 x 129mm. The power cable is detachable. A system remote control (RC006PM) is included, and D-Bus connectivity enables integration with compatible Marantz components. Auto power-off is standard.
