The MM7025 is Marantz's 2-channel stereo power amplifier, designed to partner with AV processors and preamplifiers in a high-performance separates system. Producing 140 watts per channel into 8 ohms (RMS), it sits within the MM Series power amplifier family alongside the 5-channel MM7055 and 7-channel MM8077, offering a dedicated stereo solution for those who want to drive their front speakers from a separate high-quality amplifier stage rather than relying on the power section built into an AV receiver or integrated amplifier.
Construction and Power Supply
The high-capacity power supply is built around an oversized EI-core transformer feeding carefully chosen capacitors capable of storing 30,000µF of energy. This combination instantaneously delivers peak power to all amplifier stages for distortion-free reproduction of complex sources. The amplifier operates in Class A/B topology, balancing efficiency with sonic performance, and achieves a damping factor of 100 for excellent control over the connected loudspeakers.
Connectivity
Both single-ended RCA and balanced XLR inputs are provided, assuring system compatibility regardless of the preamplifier or processor used. The RCA input sensitivity is 1.2V into 22kΩ; the balanced XLR input sensitivity is 2.4V into 30kΩ. This dual-input provision makes the MM7025 a natural partner for the Marantz AV10 and AV20 AV processors, which offer balanced output connectivity.
Design and Operation
The MM7025 wears Marantz's characteristic industrial design with a brushed black aluminium front panel, the signature circular central display, and silver-finish feet. A low-noise LCD level display provides a visual output reference. Auto power-off reduces standby consumption to 0.4 watts, and the unit ships with a detachable mains cable. The MM7025 has been tuned by a Marantz Sound Master for sonic performance consistent with the brand's pursuit of musical sound.
