The MXA-8400 is the most powerful product Lyngdorf Audio has ever built, an eight-channel power amplifier designed to drive demanding multichannel and stereo systems from a single chassis. It sits at the top of the Danish company's amplification range, pairing Purifi Class D amplifier modules with Lyngdorf's own PowerPerfect power supply.
Amplification
The MXA-8400 is Lyngdorf's first deployment of Purifi EIGENTAKT modules with ErrorCorrection (EEC). The design uses ultra-high, full-output loop gain (greater than 75dB) to keep distortion exceptionally low, measuring 0.001% THD at 200W into 8 ohms. Each channel delivers up to 400W into 4 ohms or 200W into 8 ohms in standard two-channel mode, with a maximum output current of 25A per channel.
Bridge Mode
The eight output channels can be bridged in pairs, turning the amplifier into a four-channel unit rated at 800W into 8 ohms per channel. Maximum output voltage rises from 58V peak in two-channel mode to 116V peak in bridge mode, allowing the MXA-8400 to drive larger or more power-hungry loudspeakers.
Power Supply
Lyngdorf's PowerPerfect power supply provides 3.2kW of combined output and includes Channel Balancing Technology along with integrated protection. It is designed to deliver clean, stable power without the need for an external power conditioner, while idle consumption is held to 29W.
Connections
Inputs are handled by eight balanced XLR analogue connectors with a 10k ohm input impedance and selectable input sensitivity of 2V (HIGH) or 6V (LOW). Loudspeaker connection is via eight Neutrik speakON outputs. The amplifier is designed, assembled and 24-hour tested at Lyngdorf Audio in Denmark, with every unit measured to confirm it meets specification.
