Laufey - A Matter of Time: The Final Hour [Deluxe Edition] (2LP) Vinyl

A Matter of Time: The Final Hour is the deluxe edition of Laufey's third studio album, released on 10 April 2026 through Vingolf Recordings and AWAL. It spreads the record across two LPs and adds four new songs to the fifteen that made up the 2025 original.

The Album

A Matter of Time arrived on 22 August 2025 and marked a shift for the Icelandic singer and songwriter. Where Everything I Know About Love and Bewitched drew closely on the Great American Songbook, this record moves away from jazz preservation towards something more vulnerable and more openly emotional. Laufey has described it as her most confident and most ambitious album, with more instrumentation and a bigger sound to match the scale of her live shows, and has called it a personal diary turned into song. Themes include friendship break-ups, apprehension about love and self-confrontation. She produced the album with longtime collaborator Spencer Stewart and with Aaron Dessner of The National; the Iceland Symphony Orchestra features on "Forget-Me-Not". Steve Kaye mixed the record and Joe LaPorta mastered it. Four singles preceded release: "Silver Lining", "Tough Luck", "Lover Girl" and "Snow White".

The Final Hour

Laufey announced the deluxe edition on 23 February 2026 for release on 10 April. "How I Get" was issued as its single on 25 February 2026, and she performed the song with the BBC Concert Orchestra on BBC Radio 2. A Warren Fu directed video for "Madwoman", featuring Alysa Liu, Hudson Williams, Lola Tung and Megan Skiendiel, followed on 13 April. The four new recordings sit together on side D, so the original running order is left intact across the first three sides.

This Pressing

Two 12 inch records cut at 33 1/3 RPM, catalogue number LAULP3DX, made in the Czech Republic. The nineteen tracks run five to a side across sides A, B and C, with the four deluxe additions on side D. The records are housed in printed inner sleeves carrying the full lyrics alongside pen and ink illustrations, with a further sleeve given over to the album credits and the carousel artwork. The standard retail pressing is on Dreamy Watercolor vinyl, a pale marbled finish shot through with pink, yellow and blue.

Chart Performance and Accolades

A Matter of Time entered the Official UK Albums Chart at number three, giving Laufey her first UK top ten album after Bewitched peaked at number 13, and it topped the Official Record Store Chart in the same week as the most popular album in UK independent record shops. In the United States it debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 with 99,000 album equivalent units, reaching number one on both the Independent Albums and Top Jazz Albums charts. It holds a Metacritic score of 84 out of 100 from 11 critic scores, denoting universal acclaim, and won Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.
