The Kinetik KISP-SFH1 is a passive fire hood designed for use with architectural in-wall and in-ceiling speakers. It provides fire protection in residential and commercial installations where building regulations require fire-rated speaker enclosures, preventing the spread of fire and smoke through ceiling voids created by speaker cut-outs.
Construction
The SFH1 features a lightweight and flexible construction that accommodates both new-build and retrofit installations. The hood fits over compatible in-ceiling or in-wall speaker installations with a recommended cut-out fitting between 100mm and 200mm diameter, suitable for speakers up to approximately 165mm (6½ inches) in diameter.
Fire Protection
The KISP-SFH1 has been tested under the heating and pressure conditions specified in EN 1363-1:2012 (Fire Resistance Tests — Part 1: General Requirements). It forms a barrier above the speaker installation, maintaining the fire integrity of the ceiling or wall in which the speaker is mounted.
Installation
The flexible design allows the SFH1 to be fitted without structural modifications beyond the standard speaker cut-out. It sits above the speaker in the ceiling or wall void, requiring sufficient clearance above the mounting surface for the 160mm hood depth.
