The KEF KUBE 10b sits in the middle of KEF’s four-strong Kube subwoofer range, slotting between the compact Kube 8 MIE and the larger Kube 12 MIE. Built around a custom 250 mm (10″) front-firing long-throw driver in a sealed enclosure, it is designed to deliver controlled, accurate bass across both music and home cinema applications without demanding excessive floor space.
Music Integrity Engine & iBX
At the heart of the KUBE 10b is KEF’s proprietary Music Integrity Engine (MIE) — a suite of in-house DSP algorithms developed alongside the LS60 Wireless and KC62. MIE tailors the amplifier, driver, and cabinet as an integrated system, ensuring every component works in concert rather than as isolated parts. Within MIE, the iBX (Intelligent Bass Extension) algorithm analyses the input signal and makes continuous micro-adjustments to extend low-frequency depth dynamically. The result is deeper bass at all listening levels while keeping distortion in check, even at high SPL.
Amplification & Output
A bespoke 300 W RMS Class D amplifier drives the 250 mm unit, optimised specifically for the sealed cabinet’s acoustic volume. Class D topology keeps the amplifier running efficiently and cool, channelling energy into bass output rather than heat. Maximum output is rated at 111 dB, giving the KUBE 10b enough headroom to pressurize a medium-sized listening room with authority.
Connectivity & SmartConnect
The rear panel provides RCA phono sockets (line-level), speaker-level inputs, and an expansion port for the optional KW1 wireless subwoofer adapter. KEF SmartConnect automatically detects whether the incoming signal is mono or stereo and adjusts the subwoofer’s volume level accordingly, simplifying integration with any amplifier or AV receiver. A variable low-pass filter adjustable from 40 Hz to 140 Hz (plus a dedicated LFE bypass) allows precise blending with the main speakers.
Room Placement EQ
Three DSP-controlled room placement presets compensate for the boundary reinforcement effects of different positions: in a cabinet, against a wall, or in a corner. Selecting the appropriate preset ensures consistent tonal balance regardless of where the subwoofer ends up in the room. Additional power-on modes include audio signal detection for automatic standby wake-up, an always-on setting, and a 12 V trigger input for integration into automated home systems.
Design & Build
The sealed cabinet measures 370 × 353 × 370 mm (H × W × D) and weighs 15.4 kg, compact enough to be placed inside furniture or tucked beside a sofa. The minimal, contemporary enclosure is finished in black and blends unobtrusively into most interiors.
