About Journey
Journey emerged from San Francisco in 1973, initially as a jazz-fusion outfit before transforming into one of the defining arena rock acts of the late 1970s and 1980s. The arrival of vocalist Steve Perry in 1977 proved pivotal: his soaring tenor, combined with the songwriting of guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cain, drove the band to extraordinary commercial heights. Their 1981 album Escape reached number one on the Billboard 200, and their signature anthem "Don't Stop Believin'" became the best-selling pre-2000 digital download on iTunes. Journey have sold over 100 million records worldwide and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
About Greatest Hits 2
Released in November 2011, Greatest Hits 2 arrives 23 years after the band's first compilation and fills in the gaps left by its predecessor. Where the original Greatest Hits concentrated on the band's biggest commercial singles, this second volume digs deeper into the catalogue, collecting album tracks and fan favourites that had long been overlooked on a single collection. Spanning material from Infinity (1978) through to Trial by Fire (1996), the 17-track set traces the full arc of the band's creative output across their most productive period.
The vinyl edition is presented in a gatefold sleeve and was remastered specifically for the format by Robert Hadley and Steve Perry himself. Perry noted that the vinyl pressing offered superior stereo separation, centre imaging and sonic depth compared to other formats.
