The RS1 is one of the defining models in Grado's range and the wood-housed reference in the Classic Series. Few headphones represent the history of Grado more clearly: introduced more than three decades ago, it was the first wooden headphone in the Grado lineup and quickly became one of the brand's signature designs. Originally constructed from mahogany, the RS1 helped establish the relationship between natural materials and the Grado sound that continues today.
Tri-Wood Housing
The RS1 features a tri-wood housing constructed from Cocobolo, hemp and maple. Each material contributes its own acoustic properties, combining density, damping and structural stability to create a layered and controlled presentation.
50mm X2 Dynamic Driver
At the centre of the RS1 is Grado's 50mm X2 dynamic driver, using a Mylar diaphragm, a copper voice coil and a rare earth magnetic system. The tuning emphasises expressive midrange detail and musical immediacy.
Design
An open-air, on-ear design with the Classic Series styling, the RS1 is matched to within 0.05dB between channels and is handbuilt by Grado in Brooklyn, New York.
