The Grado Mini Adaptor Cable is Grado’s own accessory for connecting headphones terminated with a 6.3 mm (¼ inch) stereo jack to sources fitted with a 3.5 mm (⅛ inch) output. At just 20 cm in length, the cable is deliberately short: Grado specify that this dimension eliminates the added leverage that a longer adaptor would place on the output circuit board of the source device.
Construction
The conductor is drawn from the same super annealed copper wire used in Grado’s own headphone cables, and Grado guarantee no degradation of sonic quality when using their headphones through this adaptor. The cable is finished with a braided sheath for durability and flexibility, and the contacts are gold-plated to resist corrosion and ensure consistent signal transfer at the connection point.
Compatibility
The adaptor converts the female 6.3 mm stereo jack of the headphone’s cable to a 3.5 mm male stereo mini plug, making it suitable for use with portable audio players, laptops, smartphones, and any source with a standard 3.5 mm headphone output. It is particularly well suited to Grado’s Prestige and Reference series headphones, all of which are terminated with a 6.3 mm plug as standard.
