The Goldring Ethos SE is the flagship of Goldring's moving coil cartridge range, a special edition that builds on the award-winning Ethos with exclusive upgrades for the most discerning analogue listeners. This is the exchange price — available when trading in an existing cartridge.

At the heart of the Ethos SE is the hand-assembled GOL-1 generator motor, a design refined over decades. The SE edition replaces copper coil wire with Ag 9999 pure silver, wound with fewer turns to reduce effective tip mass and internal impedance. The result is improved tracking ability and sharper transient response.

The low-mass cross-armature core uses Swedish iron in a cross shape rather than a conventional square design, improving channel separation and stereo soundstage realism while reducing distortion. The pole shoes undergo an exclusive process that enhances the permeability of the metal, creating a lower reluctance magnetic circuit and a flatter frequency response.

A polyhedral vital line-contact diamond stylus with a 35 x 8 µm radius is mounted on a lightweight alloy cantilever, delivering extended high-frequency response with minimal distortion. The stylus is factory replaceable and the cartridge features threaded mounting holes and a stylus guard for straightforward installation.

The body is precision-milled from 6082-T6 aircraft-grade aluminium, chosen for its low density and superior rigidity, finished in a distinctive black anodised coating.
