The Goldring E4 Replacement Stylus is the highest-performance stylus in Goldring’s E Series moving magnet cartridge range, sitting above the E1, E2 and E3. It is a direct replacement for the Goldring E4 cartridge body and can also be fitted to E1, E2 and E3 cartridge bodies as a performance upgrade, making it one of the most cost-effective improvements available for budget to mid-range turntables.
Nude Super-Elliptical Diamond
The E4 stylus uses a nude super-elliptical diamond measuring just 7.6 × 18 microns (0.3 × 0.7 mil), cut and polished from a single homogeneous piece of diamond rather than bonded to a metal shank. This nude construction gives a lower effective tip mass of 0.4 mg with improved rigidity, which translates directly into better high-frequency detail retrieval compared to bonded elliptical alternatives. The finely polished 7.6-micron profile allows the stylus to fit more effectively into closely packed inner grooves, reducing mistracking and distortion where it matters most.
Hollow Aluminium Cantilever
The diamond is mounted on a hollow aluminium cantilever, chosen for its combination of low mass and high stiffness. This allows the stylus to trace mid-to-high frequency groove modulations with greater accuracy, maintaining detail and separation across the audible range and beyond.
Magnetic Duplex Technology
The E4 cartridge body employs Goldring’s Magnetic Duplex Technology™, positioning two low-mass magnets at 45-degree angles aligned with the generator coils. This arrangement enhances stereo signal extraction, delivering improved channel separation and a more convincing, accurately positioned soundstage. The E4 also features an expert adjustment facility for azimuth optimisation.
Designed and Built in the UK
Like all Goldring cartridges, the E4 is designed and manufactured in the United Kingdom. The E Series shares the same engineering philosophy as Goldring’s higher-end moving magnet and moving coil designs, with each model in the range — E1, E2, E3 and E4 — offering a progressively more refined stylus profile and cantilever arrangement while maintaining full physical compatibility across the series.
