The Goldring 2400 Replacement Stylus is a direct-fit replacement for the Goldring 2400 moving iron cartridge. Fitting a new stylus restores the cartridge to its original performance without the expense of replacing the entire cartridge body, which retains its fixed samarium cobalt magnet and high-output coil assembly throughout its lifespan.
Vital Line-Contact Diamond
The stylus uses a low-mass Vital nude diamond mounted on a tapered aluminium cantilever. The Vital profile is a polyhedral, line-contact shape with a large contact area and narrow front-to-back profile, enabling accurate retrieval of high-frequency detail from the groove wall. The nude mounting — where the diamond is bonded directly to the cantilever without a separate shank — keeps tip mass to a minimum, improving tracking ability and reducing record wear.
Moving Iron Design
The Goldring 2400 cartridge uses a moving iron generator rather than the more common moving magnet arrangement. A lightweight iron/nickel element attached to the cantilever moves within the field of a fixed samarium cobalt magnet and high-output coil. Because the moving element is significantly lighter than a conventional permanent magnet, the design combines the detail retrieval typically associated with moving coil cartridges with the high output and user-replaceable stylus of a moving magnet type.
Compatibility
This stylus fits the Goldring 2400 cartridge only. It is not interchangeable with styli from other models in the Goldring 2000 series (2100, 2200, 2300, or 2500), each of which uses a different stylus profile and grade of diamond.
