The FRG-500 is the shorter of the two models in Forged Audio's FRG range of floorstanding speaker stands, sold as a pair. Forged Audio is a specialist hi-fi furniture brand whose catalogue pairs the APEX racking system with single-column, twin-column and desktop speaker stands; the twin-column FRG models are its dedicated floorstanding stands for standmount loudspeakers.
Twin-column, mass-loaded design
Each stand carries two 500 mm columns on a stepped steel base, and the design is mass-loaded to put standmount speakers at the right listening height and keep them planted. Mass loading, adding a dense filler such as sand to a stand, increases its weight, which steadies the stand and reduces ringing.
Isolation above and below
The base sits on M6 isolation spikes, while damping pads of 15 mm diameter form the interface between the stand and the speaker cabinet. The stands weigh 7.2 kg per pair. A taller version of the same design, the FRG-600 with 600 mm columns, is also available for speakers that need a higher listening position.
