The Theva N3-D is the flagship Dolby Atmos-enabled floorstanding speaker in Focal's entry-level Theva range, designed to bring immersive, three-dimensional sound to the home cinema. Where the standard Theva N3 delivers three front channels, the N3-D adds a fourth, vertical channel via an upward-firing driver mounted on top of the cabinet, which reflects sound from the ceiling to create the overhead height effects demanded by Dolby Atmos soundtracks.
Dolby Atmos Height Channel
The upward-firing driver works alongside the main front array by angling sound towards the ceiling, which reflects it down towards the listening position. Dolby Atmos decodes each audio object independently, placing it anywhere in a three-dimensional space around the listener. Combined with a compatible AV receiver, the N3-D creates a genuinely immersive sound field that transforms the experience of films, music, and gaming alike.
Slatefibre Cones and TNF Tweeter
Each N3-D is built around Focal's proprietary Slatefibre membrane technology: a woven composite of natural slate fibres and thermoplastic resin that provides the stiffness and low mass required for detailed, dynamic bass and midrange reproduction. The tweeter is Focal's aluminium and magnesium inverted-dome TNF design, which inverts the dome to focus dispersion and improve integration with the midrange driver, resulting in a smooth, extended high-frequency response.
Made in France
The Theva range is assembled in Focal's Saint-Etienne facility in France. The cabinet is finished in a Light Wood veneer, with metallised and screen-printed driver rings and a magnetically attached cloth grille. Spikes and counter-points are included for placement on hard floors or carpet.
Part of the Theva System
The N3-D is designed to integrate with the rest of the Theva line, including the Theva N1 and N2 bookshelf speakers, the Theva Centre, the Theva Surround, and the SUB 600P subwoofer, allowing a complete, matched Dolby Atmos home cinema system to be built from a single range.
