The Sub 600P is Focal's compact active subwoofer, designed to add deep, impactful and controlled bass to both two-channel hi-fi systems and home cinema installations. It pairs a 30cm (12") Polyflex driver with a 600-watt Class D amplifier rated at 300 watts RMS, all housed in a discreet sealed cabinet.
Closed cabinet design
Focal has chosen a sealed enclosure for the Sub 600P. The closed design avoids the parasitic noise associated with ported cabinets, allowing the subwoofer to reproduce low frequencies that stay faithful to the original signal. The result is bass that is deep yet tight and controlled rather than boomy, extending down to 26Hz (-6dB) with a quoted frequency response of 28Hz to 270Hz (+/-3dB).
Driver and amplification
At the heart of the cabinet sits a 30cm Polyflex cone, a stiff and lightweight material chosen for its high power handling. It is driven by a 600-watt Class D amplifier delivering 300 watts RMS, providing the headroom needed to fill a room with low-frequency effects without strain.
Connections and setup
The rear panel offers stereo line-level RCA inputs along with a dedicated LFE input, making the Sub 600P equally at home connected to a stereo amplifier or an AV receiver. Adjustable crossover frequency, phase and volume controls allow the subwoofer to be blended precisely with the main speakers, while an AutoStandby function can be enabled to save power when no signal is present.
Finish and placement
The Sub 600P combines a high-gloss black front panel with a brushed cabinet body and a magnetic fabric grille. Its cube-like proportions and understated finish allow it to sit discreetly within a living space while delivering substantial bass output.
