The Focal Sub 1000F sits within Focal's home cinema range, a compact active subwoofer designed to add weight and impact to a surround sound system while keeping a tidy footprint. Built and tested at Focal's facilities in Saint-Etienne, France, it pairs a 12-inch (30cm) Flax cone driver with a 1000W BASH amplifier to reach down to 24Hz, delivering the low-frequency extension that brings films and music to life.
Flax cone driver
At the heart of the Sub 1000F is a 30cm bass driver using Focal's exclusive Flax sandwich cone. The natural flax fibre core, bonded between two layers of glass fibre, offers light weight, rigidity and damping in equal measure. The result is well defined, distortion-free bass with excellent timbre neutrality, even at high output.
1000W BASH amplification
The driver is powered by a 1000-watt BASH amplifier, an efficient hybrid design that combines the control of a linear amplifier with the headroom of a switching design. This gives the subwoofer the power to express its full dynamic potential, producing high sound pressure levels with tight, articulate control.
Sealed cabinet
The Sub 1000F uses a closed cabinet construction, which delivers extended low-frequency response, a compact form and an absence of port noise. The dense, well braced enclosure measures just 420mm in each direction, allowing it to be positioned discreetly within a room.
Connections and setup
Connectivity covers stereo line inputs along with a dedicated LFE line input for direct connection to an AV receiver or processor. An automatic power mode switches the subwoofer on when a signal is detected and back to standby when idle, for fuss-free everyday use.
