The FiiO RR11 is the brand's entry into the retro portable radio category, sitting alongside the TT11 turntable and CP13 cassette player in FiiO's growing collection of analogue-inspired Retro Products. Housed in a super-slim 13mm aluminium alloy body reminiscent of a cigarette lighter, the RR11 brings the tactile pleasures of classic FM radio into a pocket-sized form that reflects FiiO's nearly 18 years of audio engineering experience.
Analog PVR Tuning
Rather than a digital stepping tuner, the RR11 uses an analogue physical variable resistor (PVR) scroll wheel to tune across the FM band. The knurled aluminium wheel provides satisfying tactile feedback as you sweep through frequencies, connecting you to the act of tuning in a way that digital buttons simply cannot replicate. The Silicon Labs Si4831 specialty FM radio chip ensures clear and stable reception across the full 64-108 MHz band, covering the standard FM1 band (87-108 MHz), the Japanese FM2 band (76-90 MHz), and the wider FM3 campus band (64-87 MHz).
HiFi-Grade Circuit and Sound Effects
Drawing on FiiO's extensive DAC and amplifier design heritage, the RR11 features a carefully designed HiFi-grade signal path rather than the generic circuitry found in mass-market pocket radios. A custom DDB analogue sound effect and amplification chip delivers three listening modes: standard output, MAGIC BASS 1 (bass boost), and MAGIC BASS 2 (bass boost with 3D surround), selectable via a dedicated switch on the side panel. The FM/headphone amplifier dual-mode operation means the RR11 can also function as a standalone headphone amplifier when connected via the included Type-C to Type-C digital-to-analogue cable.
Built-in and Headphone Antenna
The RR11 incorporates both a high-performance PCB signal-gain antenna built into the body and the ability to use connected headphones as an external antenna. This dual-antenna arrangement gives strong reception indoors and out, even in the compact 83.2 x 39.4 x 13 mm chassis.
Battery and Charging
A 300 mAh lithium battery provides over 8.5 hours of continuous FM playback, or over 17.5 hours in headphone amplifier mode. The RR11 charges via USB Type-C and can be used while charging, giving a dual power supply mode for extended listening sessions at a desk or at home.
Retro Lighting and Status Indicators
Orange-yellow LED indicators on the front panel show stereo reception status, tuning activity, and battery level at a glance, adding a warm retro glow that complements the anodised aluminium body. The RR11 is available in Black, Gold, and Silver finishes, as well as Red, Blue, and Pink, making it as much a design object as a functional radio.
In the Box
The RR11 comes with FiiO JF11 earbuds, a Type-C to Type-C digital-to-analogue cable, earbud sponge covers, a quick start guide, and a warranty card.
