The FiiO K13 R2R is a compact desktop DAC and headphone amplifier built around a proprietary 24-bit resistor-ladder (R2R) DAC architecture. Unlike conventional delta-sigma DACs, the K13 uses 192 precision thin-film resistors arranged across four fully balanced channels, each with 0.1% accuracy and ultra-low temperature drift, to reconstruct audio with a naturally smooth, analogue quality that many listeners find more engaging for long listening sessions.
Housed in a CNC-machined aluminium chassis, the K13 R2R packs remarkable connectivity into a compact footprint. The front panel provides both a 6.35mm single-ended headphone output and a 4.4mm balanced headphone output, whilst the rear carries balanced XLR line outputs, dual RCA line outputs (switchable between fixed and variable pre-amp modes), a USB-C input, S/PDIF coaxial and optical digital inputs, a DC barrel jack for an optional external linear power supply, and a detachable Bluetooth antenna for wireless streaming. A side-mounted USB-C port adds further convenience for smartphones and tablets.
Wireless connectivity is provided via Bluetooth 5.4 with support for LDAC, AAC, and SBC codecs, making the K13 R2R equally at home as a wireless desktop hub. Digital signal processing is handled by an XMOS XU316 USB receiver, supporting PCM up to 384kHz/32-bit and native DSD256 decoding. Two operating modes are provided: NOS (Non-Oversampling) maintains the original sampling rate for a more natural, analogue presentation, while OS (Oversampling) upsamples to 384kHz for increased measured performance.
A 10-band parametric equaliser, accessible via the FiiO Control app or web interface, allows precise tuning across all operating modes, with cloud-based headphone correction profiles available for popular headphone models. An OLED display shows input, sample rate, gain level, and output mode at a glance, and dual rotary encoders handle input selection, menu navigation, and volume control. The K13 R2R ships with a remote control, Bluetooth antenna, USB-C to USB-A cable, 3.5mm to 6.35mm adaptor, and mains cable.
