Large 95x86mm Planar Driver
At the heart of the JT7 is a large 95 x 86mm proprietary planar magnetic driver with an ultra-thin 3µm diaphragm. The diaphragm vibrates evenly across its entire surface, delivering fast, detailed response with low distortion across a broad frequency range. FiiO’s F.E.S. (FIIO Elastic System) adds multidimensional texture to the diaphragm, increasing its elasticity to enhance bass extension and control without sacrificing clarity.
A two-way high-density neodymium magnet array generates a powerful magnetic field for higher sensitivity and easier drivability from a variety of sources. Precision manufacturing integrates the voice coil and diaphragm seamlessly to improve performance and long-term durability.
Foldable Design for Everyday Use
Unlike most planar headphones, the JT7 features a fold-inward design that makes it unusually compact and portable for an open-back planar. Tipping the scales at just 318g, it is substantially lighter than typical planar headphones, allowing for comfortable long listening sessions. The hinge components are crafted from high-strength fibreglass material, engineered to withstand tens of thousands of expansion, twisting, and bending cycles.
Open, Spacious Sound Signature
The open-back construction delivers the spacious, airy presentation characteristic of open-back headphones. The soundstage offers a wide, elevated headspace with semi-holographic spatial imaging, placing instruments in well-defined positions. The overall sound signature leans smooth and easy to listen to: controlled bass with clear sub-bass response, relaxed and articulate midrange, and treble that remains airy without becoming fatiguing.
Versatile Connectivity
The JT7 ships with both a 3.5mm single-ended cable and a 4.4mm balanced cable, each featuring dual 3.5mm headphone connectors, along with a 6.35mm to 3.5mm adapter. This allows the headphone to be paired with a wide range of sources, from portable DAC/amps to desktop amplifiers. With an impedance of just 18Ω, the JT7 can be driven adequately from many portable devices, though desktop amplification will deliver the fullest bass dynamics and performance.
