FiiO Jade Audio JT1

The FiiO Jade Audio JT1 sits at the entry point of the Jade Audio headphone range, a sub-brand created by FiiO to focus exclusively on accessible, sonically-focused wired headphones. Where many budget over-ear headphones cut corners on acoustic components, the JT1 prioritises driver quality and build materials over superfluous features, offering a genuine hi-fi listening experience at an approachable price.

Driver Design

The JT1 is built around a 50mm dynamic driver with a PEK+PU and aluminium foil composite polymer diaphragm. The combination of PEK (polyether ketone) and PU (polyurethane) creates a diaphragm that is both lightweight and well-damped, while the aluminium foil composite layer adds rigidity. The result is a driver that moves quickly to resolve fine detail while maintaining low distortion across the frequency range. A CCAW (copper-clad aluminium wire) paper tube voice coil reduces moving mass further, and N52 high-performance neodymium magnets provide a strong, controlled magnetic field to drive the diaphragm with precision. The closed cavity design helps to control resonance within the earcup for a tighter bass response.

Construction and Comfort

The JT1 uses a stainless-steel headband paired with lightweight ABS earcup housings. The outer face of each earcup is finished with a star-shaped hollow aluminium cover, giving the headphone a premium visual character that sits above its price point. The headband is leather-wrapped with an adaptive suspension design that automatically distributes weight evenly across the head, reducing hotspots during longer listening sessions. The earpads use a quick-release twist-off mechanism for straightforward replacement or swapping.

Connectivity and Accessories

Connection to the earcups uses a dual 3.5mm TRS detachable system, with colour-coded connectors (left blue, right red) to eliminate incorrect insertion. The JT1 ships with a 3.5mm inline microphone cable with an OFC conductor, approximately 150cm in length, making it compatible with smartphones and laptops as well as dedicated audio players and amplifiers. A 3.5mm female to 6.3mm male adaptor is included for use with full-size amplifiers and DAC/amp devices. The 32-ohm impedance means the JT1 is easy to drive from portable sources including USB audio dongles, without requiring a dedicated headphone amplifier. A fabric storage bag is also included.
