The FiiO FT13 is an entry-level closed-back over-ear headphone that brings genuine high-fidelity performance to an accessible price point. Built around a large 60mm dynamic driver with a wool composite nano-wood fibre diaphragm sourced from European birch, the FT13 combines acoustic precision with head-turning aesthetics. The Natural finish showcases the striking red-purple grain of genuine purpleheart wood ā each earcup shell hand-selected and CNC-machined from South American purpleheart timber, then hand-polished to a high-gloss lacquer that highlights every unique wood grain pattern. No two pairs are identical. Also available in Black, which features a deeply lacquered finish that subdues the grain for a sleeker, darker appearance.
Acoustically, the FT13 is designed to be easy to drive from any source. Its 32Ī© impedance and 98dB/mW sensitivity mean smartphones, laptops, and portable DAPs can all power it without issue, while a dedicated headphone amplifier will reveal its full capability. The W-shaped diaphragm increases the effective vibration area by over 25%, and a U-shaped damping tube combined with the closed-back sealed design reduces external noise by up to 26dB. The earcup housing is angled to align the driver with the ear canal, reducing standing wave interference for a cleaner, more focused soundstage.
The included Furukawa monocrystalline copper and silver-plated OFC hybrid cable terminates in dual 3.5mm TS connectors at the headphone end, with three interchangeable plugs supplied: 3.5mm SE, 6.35mm SE, and 4.4mm balanced. Two sets of earpads ā lambskin and suede ā are included, each offering a distinctly different sound character. A linen carry case, cleaning cloth, and user guide complete the package.
