The FiiO FT1 represents FiiO’s entry into closed-back over-ear headphones, combining a large 60mm dynamic driver with solid natural wood earcups for a listening experience that balances technical performance with tactile craftsmanship. Designed for listeners who want to enjoy excellent sound quality from portable players and smartphones without requiring a dedicated headphone amplifier, the FT1’s low impedance and high sensitivity make it highly versatile across a wide range of sources.

60mm Large Dynamic Driver

At the heart of the FT1 is a custom 60mm dynamic driver developed specifically for FiiO’s first closed-back over-ear headphone. This larger-than-average driver enhances energy conversion efficiency and lowers the resonant frequency, producing deeper, more authoritative bass. The driver uses a nanowood fibre composite diaphragm with a W-shaped suspension gasket and a 25mm voice coil, increasing the effective vibrating area by 25.8% compared with conventional designs. This arrangement minimises vibrational losses, reduces distortion, and strengthens vocal density throughout the midrange.

Natural Solid Beech Wood Earcups

Each FT1 earcup is machined from solid natural wood. The Beech version uses Chinese beech, a dense hardwood noted for its tight grain, resistance to corrosion, and warm, pale appearance. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, solid wood inherently damps cavity resonance and minimises standing waves within the earcup enclosure, contributing to the FT1’s clean, natural tonal character. Because each piece of wood is unique, no two pairs of FT1 headphones are exactly alike.

Low Impedance and High Sensitivity

With an impedance of 32 ohms and a sensitivity of 113 dB/Vrms at 1 kHz (equivalent to 98 dB/mW), the FT1 requires minimal driving power. It can be driven directly from a smartphone, DAP, or laptop without a dedicated headphone amplifier, while also performing well from higher-quality sources as the system scales up. The frequency response extends from 10 Hz to 40 kHz, covering both the deepest sub-bass and well beyond the limits of human hearing.

Dual Cable Connectivity

The FT1 ships with two silver-plated oxygen-free copper cables, both 1.5 metres in length and made to 24 AWG with 392 individual wires. One cable is terminated with a 3.5mm single-ended plug; the second with a 4.4mm balanced plug. Both connect via dual 3.5mm TRS connectors at the headphone end, a standard interface that makes cable upgrades and replacements straightforward. A premium carry case is included for storage and transport.
