The FiiO FP3 marks the brand's debut in the planar magnetic in-ear monitor space, combining an internally developed driver with a striking wooden faceplate design. Sitting in the mid-tier of FiiO's IEM lineup at an accessible price point, the FP3 delivers the resolution advantages of planar technology alongside a distinctive aesthetic that sets it apart from conventional resin or aluminium IEMs.
At the heart of the FP3 is FiiO's own second-generation 14.5mm planar magnetic driver, developed over two years of research and engineering. The ultra-thin 1-micron diaphragm enables faster transient response and improved dynamic range compared to earlier planar designs. FiiO has also incorporated their "Tesla Bass Sound" technology, using precisely engineered acoustic channels within the cavity to form a one-way tesla valve structure, which is said to contribute to deeper, more textured bass performance.
The housing is constructed from 3D-printed resin with a glossy black finish, but the defining feature is the concave wooden faceplate in Rosewood. The warm, reddish-brown grained wood is finished with a protective resin layer for durability, and FiiO's logo is applied to the faceplate beneath it. The result is a premium-looking IEM that draws on the materials traditions of high-end audio whilst remaining practical in everyday use.
The FP3 has an impedance of 36 ohms and a sensitivity of 105 dB, making it compatible with smartphones, laptops, portable DAPs, and dongle DACs without requiring a dedicated headphone amplifier, though it scales well with more capable sources. The included 4-core silver-plated copper cable terminates in a 3.5mm plug and connects via 0.78mm 2-pin connectors, allowing cable rolling should you wish to upgrade. The FP3 comes with a set of silicone ear tips in treble and balanced tunings across S/M/L sizes, plus a transparent hard case for desktop storage.
The FP3's sound signature is V-shaped with emphasis on sub-bass impact and treble detail, giving it an exciting, energetic character suited to electronic music, pop, and other genres that benefit from dynamic contrast and sparkle. Also available in Black Walnut.
