FiiO FF5 Flat-Head Earbud - Black

The FiiO FF5 is a flat-head earbud built around a specially developed 14.2mm dynamic driver, using a carbon-based diaphragm bonded to a PU gasket. This combination produces a diaphragm that is both lightweight and highly rigid, reducing non-linear distortion and enabling quick transients with detailed treble. The FF5 was tuned with particular care for the 2kHz to 4kHz frequency range, making it especially well-suited to female vocals, acoustic guitar, strings, and cymbals. Resonance at 127Hz is precisely controlled to keep bass notes clean and prevent muddiness.

The enclosure draws inspiration from flower petals with a diffuse open design that incorporates an acoustic damping device. By allowing controlled air pressure to escape, this arrangement suppresses internal reflections and standing waves, resulting in a purer mid-range and more extended bass. Extended acoustic resistance pipes within the housing further redirect driver back-pressure into the lower frequency register, delivering textured, articulate bass without bloat.

The FF5 ships with a silver-plated monocrystalline copper Litz cable comprising four strands and 392 individual wires in total. The Litz geometry minimises the skin effect, improving conductivity and treble resolution compared to a conventional twisted cable. The cable terminates at an expanded MMCX connector on the earbud side and features a swappable audio plug system, allowing straightforward switching between the supplied 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced plugs to match your source device. Should the cable ever need replacing, any standard MMCX cable is compatible.

Each earbud is machined from aluminium alloy using CNC processes, keeping the weight to just 3.4g per unit excluding the cable. The FF5 ships with a carrying case, both cable terminations, an MMCX removal tool, six pairs of anti-slip silicone rings in medium and large sizes, and eighteen pairs of sponge covers across three tuning profiles - bass-emphasising, treble-boosting, and balanced.
