Sitting at the top of FiiO's portable CD player range, the DM13 is built around flagship Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC chips and supports both wired and wireless listening, bringing audiophile-grade performance to a portable format.
Flagship DAC Architecture
At the heart of the DM13 is a pair of Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC chips, each paired with a low-noise SGM8262 headphone amplifier in a fully balanced dual-DAC, dual-amplifier configuration. This architecture delivers up to 660mW per channel through the 4.4mm balanced headphone output, with a noise floor below 2.8uV (A-weighted) and THD+N of 0.0024% or less. Volume control is handled directly by the DAC chips themselves, enabling 99 levels of precise adjustment for smooth, artefact-free attenuation at any listening level.
Versatile Output Options
The DM13 provides both a standard 3.5mm single-ended headphone output and a 4.4mm balanced headphone output, along with single-ended and balanced line outputs for connection to active speakers or a headphone amplifier. An optical/coaxial digital output on a shared 3.5mm port allows the DM13 to act as a transport feeding an external DAC, expanding its usefulness within a larger audio system.
Hi-Res Bluetooth Transmission
Unlike most portable CD players, the DM13 incorporates a Qualcomm Bluetooth platform supporting SBC, aptX, aptX Low Latency, and aptX HD codecs. This enables high-resolution wireless audio transmission to compatible headphones and speakers, maintaining audio quality that goes well beyond standard Bluetooth. The Bluetooth function can be used simultaneously with wired outputs, offering flexibility for different listening scenarios.
USB CD Ripping
The DM13 can rip audio CDs to WAV files on a connected USB Type-C storage device, allowing you to archive your disc collection in lossless format. The ripped files can then be transferred to a computer or phone for playback anywhere. A Type-C USB flash drive with a capacity of 32GB or lower is recommended for ripping and firmware updates.
Desktop and Portable Modes
FiiO's patented desktop mode lets the DM13 draw power directly from a USB source rather than its internal battery, extending battery longevity during extended home listening sessions. When connected to a USB power supply and the D.MODE switch is set to ON, the 3750mAh cobalt lithium battery is preserved entirely. In battery mode the DM13 delivers up to 10 hours of continuous playback.
Compact and Well-Built
Measuring approximately 137.5 x 144.7 x 28.7mm and weighing around 450g, the DM13 is compact for a hi-fi grade portable CD player. An ESP (electronic skip protection) switch improves playback stability on the move. The disc compartment is designed to minimise the risk of disc contact during high-speed rotation. An LCD display and physical buttons provide full control without requiring a paired device.
