The FiiO BTR13 is FiiO's entry-level Bluetooth DAC and headphone amplifier, designed to bring high-fidelity portable audio to as wide an audience as possible. Sitting below the BTR15 in FiiO's Bluetooth receiver range, the BTR13 still delivers a genuinely impressive specification for its price, making it the natural starting point for anyone new to portable DAC/amps.
Inside, a pair of Cirrus Logic CS43131 DACs handle one channel each, reducing crosstalk and enabling a fully balanced signal path. The headphone output section delivers up to 220mW into 32Ω via the 4.4mm balanced socket, a 282% increase over FiiO's earlier BTR3K, and 100mW into 32Ω from the 3.5mm single-ended output. A THD+N figure of under 0.0018% and an A-weighted SNR of 128dB (balanced) confirm genuine high-fidelity performance.
Wireless connectivity is handled by the Qualcomm QCC5125 chip running Bluetooth 5.1, with codec support covering LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX, aptX LL, AAC and SBC. In LDAC mode the BTR13 can receive audio at up to 96kHz, and the same resolution ceiling applies when used as a USB DAC. A simple three-position toggle switch selects between PC mode (USB DAC powered by the computer), BT mode (Bluetooth receiver powered by the internal battery), and Phone mode (USB audio dongle powered by battery). A built-in 10-band parametric EQ is accessible via a web interface and is processed by the QCC5125's DSP, so it works across all input modes including LDAC.
The 460mAh battery provides at least 8 hours of playback in Bluetooth mode and at least 10 hours when used as a USB dongle, with a full charge taking under two hours via USB-C. A small OLED-style display shows codec, battery level, volume, sampling rate and EQ status at a glance. The BTR13 also includes a car mode that automatically powers on and off with the vehicle's USB supply.
