The V16 is EverSolo's dual-mode handset, listed in the company's Accessories and Extensions range and sold separately for its DMP series network players. EverSolo lists it for the DMP-A10 and DMP-A8 alongside the wider DMP range.
Bluetooth and infrared in one handset
The V16 supports both BLE Bluetooth and infrared, so commands can travel either way. EverSolo quotes an effective range of 8 metres or more along the axis of the handset, with 4 metres or more still available at 15 degrees off axis, falling to 6 metres or more once the battery is down to 3.0V. Infrared operates at 940nm on a 37.9kHz carrier, while Bluetooth runs in the 2400 to 2480MHz band.
Rechargeable battery and smart standby
Power comes from a built-in 3.7V 300mAh lithium battery rather than disposable cells. In infrared mode the handset drops into standby after six seconds of inactivity, while in Bluetooth mode it holds a long-term connection; EverSolo describes this smart standby behaviour as the reason the battery lasts as long as it does. When the battery runs low, the indicator flashes three times on a key press as a warning.
Pairing
Pairing is carried out from the handset. Press and hold the Next Track and Volume Down keys together for three seconds until the indicator flashes, and the player recognises and connects to the remote automatically. The indicator turns off once pairing has succeeded. If pairing fails, the light goes out after 30 seconds and the handset leaves pairing mode.
Build
The casing combines ABS with an electroplated zinc alloy shell, giving the handset a wear resistant finish and a solid feel in the hand. The keys are rated for at least 300,000 presses, and the remote is specified for use between 0 and 50 degrees Celsius.
