The DMP-A6 Gen 2 sits at the heart of EverSolo's streaming range, refining the all-in-one network player that earned the brand its reputation for combining audiophile hardware with a genuinely modern user interface. It works as a network streamer, digital-to-analogue converter and digital preamplifier in a single compact chassis, giving a complete digital source for an active or passive hi-fi system.
Streaming and Control
Running EverSolo's EOS operating system on an Android base, the DMP-A6 Gen 2 brings together the major streaming platforms in one place, including Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Deezer, HighResAudio and internet radio. It is Roon Ready and supports Tidal Connect, Apple AirPlay and Chromecast, so material can be cast directly from a phone or laptop. Network sharing protocols such as UPnP, DLNA, SMB, NFS and WebDAV allow playback from a NAS or networked computer. A 6-inch colour touchscreen on the front panel displays album art, file information and VU meters, and the unit can also be operated through the EverSolo control app.
Digital-to-Analogue Conversion
Conversion is handled by a pair of ESS ES9038Q2M DAC chips arranged in a dual-channel configuration, fed by an XMOS XU316 USB interface and buffered by Texas Instruments OPA1642 op-amps. The DMP-A6 Gen 2 decodes PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD up to DSD512 over USB, and is MQA compatible. EverSolo's proprietary EOS audio engine manages sample-rate handling to keep the signal path clean.
What Is New in Gen 2
The second generation upgrades the original with a customised linear power supply for lower background noise, an HDMI ARC input so the streamer can take audio from a television, a 12V trigger output for switching connected components, and Wake-on-LAN for remote start-up from the app. The XMOS processor is also uprated to handle the full DSD512 and 768kHz PCM rates.
Connections
Analogue outputs cover both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA. Digital connectivity is extensive, with coaxial and optical inputs and outputs, USB-B audio input, a USB-A output for an external DAC, and an HDMI output carrying audio and DSD. Wired Gigabit Ethernet sits alongside dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth via a Qualcomm QCC5125 receiver. An internal M.2 NVMe SSD slot lets you fit a drive for local music storage without removing the cover.
Build
The casework is CNC-machined from aviation-grade aluminium with a brushed and sandblasted matte finish, giving a solid, low-resonance enclosure to house the linear power supply and analogue stages.
