Dual CS 435-1 Noblesse Makassar Automatic Turntable

The Dual CS 435-1 Noblesse Makassar is a strictly limited edition of Dual’s fully automatic CS 435-1 turntable, produced in a run of just 33 units. Where the standard CS 435-1 offers an accessible, plug-and-play entry point in Dual’s automatic turntable range, the Noblesse Makassar elevates the platform with a real-wood Makassar veneer finish and a substantially heavier chassis — almost twice the weight of the standard model — for improved vibration resistance and mechanical stability.

Chassis & Platter

The Noblesse Makassar’s solid wooden console is finished in genuine Makassar veneer, a distinctive striped tropical hardwood not available on any other CS 435-1 variant. The increased mass of the chassis significantly reduces sensitivity to external vibrations, ensuring cleaner stylus tracking with less interference from room acoustics and supporting furniture. A floating sub-chassis further decouples the platter and tonearm assembly from the enclosure. The aluminium platter is vibration-damped and topped with an antistatic felt mat to minimise static charge on the record surface.

Drive System

Belt drive is employed via a ground flat belt, driven by a DC motor with electronic speed control. Two speeds are supported: 33⅓ and 45 RPM, with wow and flutter rated at ±0.12%. As a fully automatic turntable, the CS 435-1 handles cueing, playback, and end-of-side return without user intervention. The viscosity-damped tonearm lift provides smooth, controlled descent onto the record, and a limit switch triggers automatic tonearm return at the end of each side.

Tonearm & Cartridge

The weight-balanced tonearm features an adjustable counterweight and anti-skating mechanism, allowing precise tracking force adjustment. The torsion-resistant headshell uses a standard 13mm (½-inch) cartridge mount, making future cartridge upgrades straightforward. The turntable is supplied with an Audio Technica AT-91E moving magnet cartridge fitted and ready to play.

Connections

Output is via a fixed RCA stereo cable with a separate ground cable for connection to a phono-equipped amplifier or external phono stage. A 12V DC external power supply is included.
