The Dorpo UHP-3003SE sits at the top of the Dorpo UHP media player range, designed for audio and video enthusiasts who demand the highest level of performance from a single chassis. Where the UHP-3001 and UHP-3003 use switch-mode power supplies, the UHP-3003SE adds a dedicated linear power supply for the analogue audio circuitry, bringing a level of electrical isolation and noise rejection associated with the finest dedicated hi-fi components. It features twin 3.5-inch SATA HDD bays, a high-resolution ESS DAC, dual HDMI 2.1 outputs, and fits a standard 430mm rack chassis.
Platform and Performance
The UHP-3003SE is built around the Amlogic S928X-K, an 8K professional processor running a five-core CPU on 12nm process technology with 3.2 TOPS of computing power. The platform provides 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage, supporting simultaneous decoding of 8K content at 60 frames per second alongside multitasking across the Android 11-based FunplayUI 2.0 operating system. The dedicated 8K GPU handles Dolby Vision and DTS dual audio decoding without offloading work to the main CPU cores.
ESS DAC and Dedicated Linear PSU
The UHP-3003SE steps up to an ESS high-performance DAC for analogue audio output. The ESS DAC is fed by a dedicated linear power supply, electrically isolated from the switching supply that powers the digital and storage sections. This arrangement eliminates the switching noise that can colour analogue output in media players that share a single power supply across all circuits. The RCA stereo output delivers up to 2.1Vrms, making the UHP-3003SE compatible with integrated amplifiers, pre-amplifiers, and active speaker systems without the need for a separate DAC.
Dual HDMI 2.1 Outputs and Video Capability
Two independent HDMI 2.1 outputs allow simultaneous connection to a display and an AV receiver, or to two separate display zones, without a splitter. Both outputs support HDMI 2.1a: 8K at 60 frames per second, 4K at 120 frames per second, 12-bit colour depth, and BT.2020 wide colour gamut. Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG are all supported. Frame rate matching covers standard integer rates as well as 23.976, 29.97, and 59.94 frames per second for accurate film playback without judder-inducing interpolation.
The built-in Dorpo Media Player supports all major 8K codecs including H.265, AV1, VP9, AVS3, and AVS2, and handles virtually every media container format including Blu-ray BDMV and ISO, MKV, TS, M2TS, and MP4. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X HD MA certification covers decoding and bitstream passthrough of lossless immersive audio.
Dual HDD Storage Bays
Two independent 3.5-inch SATA 3.0 hard drive bays provide on-board storage for large local media libraries, with each bay supporting drives up to 24TB. The bays use a tool-free, slide-out drawer design for easy installation and hot-swap capability when the unit is powered down. Supported file systems include NTFS, FAT32, and exFAT. A media library of 4K UHD ISO files, Blu-ray backups, and lossless audio can be held entirely on internal drives without reliance on network-attached storage.
Connectivity and Control
The rear panel provides a comprehensive connectivity suite alongside the dual HDMI outputs: RCA stereo analogue output, optical digital audio output, coaxial digital audio output, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, RS232 serial control, trigger input and output, IR input, and Gigabit Ethernet. Wireless connectivity is handled by a dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi 6 module with Bluetooth 5.2, using a built-in hidden high-gain antenna.
Control options include HDMI CEC, RS232, IP TCP, IR, and the dp SmartController app for iOS and Android. The included RC05 remote control features motion-activated backlighting, a six-axis gyroscope for air-mouse navigation, and infrared learning capability to replicate the function keys of other AV components.
FunplayUI 2.0
The UHP-3003SE runs Dorpo's proprietary FunplayUI 2.0, a deeply customised Android 11 environment with 4K resolution output. FunplayUI automatically scans connected storage and network sources, downloads video and audio metadata, and presents an organised library through the dp Player and Music Player interfaces. Streaming services including Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Plex, Tidal, Spotify, and Apple Music can be installed from the Android app ecosystem alongside any other compatible application.
