The Dorpo UHP-3001 sits at the top of Dorpo's European media player range, positioned above the X300 and X3 as the flagship model for dedicated home cinema rooms and custom AV installations. Dorpo was founded by former OPPO Digital engineers and the UHP-3001 draws directly on that heritage, combining 8K hardware decoding, audiophile-grade analogue audio, and a full-width 430mm chassis designed to fit standard 19-inch AV racks.
Processor and Performance
At the heart of the UHP-3001 is the Amlogic S928X-K, a professional-grade 8K processor built on 12nm process technology with a five-core CPU architecture and 3.2 TOPS of computing power. A dedicated 8K GPU handles video rendering independently of the CPU, supporting native 7680x4320 output at 60 frames per second and 4K output at up to 120 frames per second. The unit ships with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of eMMC internal storage, with further capacity available via the built-in SATA 3.0 HDD bay.
HDR and Colour
The UHP-3001 supports a comprehensive HDR stack: Dolby Vision (using the VS12 commercial picture engine), HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG. Dolby Vision's VS12 engine processes dynamic metadata at the frame level, adapting brightness and colour in real time regardless of the dynamic range of the source material. HDR10+ applies scene-by-scene dynamic metadata to deliver richer contrast and smoother tonal gradients. All output is delivered at 12-bit colour depth with BT.2020 wide colour gamut coverage, which encompasses 75% of the visible spectrum. Precise frame-rate matching output accommodates cinema-native rates including 23.976, 29.97, and 59.94 frames per second, eliminating cadence errors and judder during film playback.
Audio
For analogue audio, the UHP-3001 integrates a standalone AKM4432 DAC, delivering a measured output of 2.1Vrms with a signal-to-noise ratio exceeding 103dB and channel separation greater than 114dB. A custom-designed NXP dual-channel linear power supply feeds the mainboard and HDD bay through independent modules, isolating the analogue audio chain from switching noise. Digital audio decoding covers Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, DTS-HD Master Audio, and PCM up to 192kHz, with Dolby and DTS dual certification. Audio is output via HDMI 2.1, optical (Toslink), and stereo RCA.
Format Support and Media Playback
The built-in Dorpo Media Player handles Blu-ray disc images (BDMV and ISO), MKV, TS, M2TS, MP4, and all major 8K codecs including H.265, AV1, VP9, AVS3, and AVS2. The Android 11-based FunplayUI 2.0 operating system provides access to streaming services including Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Plex, Tidal, Spotify, and Apple Music, and supports sideloading of additional Android applications. The dp SmartController app (available for iOS and Android) enables remote control and local network file browsing across all Dorpo devices.
Connectivity and Installation
Connectivity includes HDMI 2.1 output, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, an optical digital output, stereo RCA output, RS232 serial control, trigger input and output, an IR input, and a Gigabit Ethernet port. Wireless networking uses a Wi-Fi 6 module supporting 2.4GHz and 5GHz dual-band operation, with Bluetooth 5.2 for audio and remote control. The 430mm chassis width conforms to standard 19-inch rack specifications, with feet included for shelf installation. The included RC05 remote control features a motion-activated sensor backlight, a six-axis gyroscope for air mouse functionality, IR learning capability, and dual Bluetooth/IR transmission modes.
Storage Expansion
The built-in SATA 3.0 HDD bay accepts standard 3.5-inch drives of up to 24TB. The bay uses a tool-free fast-release design for straightforward drive installation and replacement, allowing the UHP-3001's local library to scale with a growing collection without the need for external drive enclosures.
