Jolene is the thirteenth solo studio album by Dolly Parton, originally released in February 1974 on RCA Victor. This edition is the 2019 reissue on RCA and Legacy, pressed as a single 12" vinyl LP.
The Album
Produced by Bob Ferguson and recorded at RCA Studio B in Nashville, the record gathers ten songs from the height of Parton's early solo career. It is anchored by two of her most enduring compositions: the title track and "I Will Always Love You".
Key Tracks
"Jolene", the tale of a woman confronting a rival for her husband's affections, became Parton's second solo number-one country single. "I Will Always Love You", written on the end of her professional partnership with Porter Wagoner, also reached number one on the country chart and has since been recorded by many other artists. The album reached number 6 on the US Hot Country Albums chart.
