The Denon RCD-M41DAB is a compact CD receiver from Denon’s long-running M-Series, which has earned a reputation for delivering genuine hi-fi performance in a micro form factor. The D-M41DAB builds on its predecessors with a newly developed discrete analogue amplifier circuit and the addition of Bluetooth streaming, making it a versatile all-in-one system for bedrooms, studies, and smaller living spaces.
Amplifier & Circuit Design
At the heart of the RCD-M41DAB is a discrete analogue amplifier stage delivering 2 × 30W into 6 ohms. Denon’s engineering team designed the circuit with shortened signal paths, adopting what the company calls a Simple & Straight design philosophy combined with Triple Noise Reduction Design (T.N.R.D.) to minimise interference and maintain signal clarity. A subwoofer pre-out is included for those who wish to extend the low-frequency response with an active subwoofer.
CD Playback
The built-in CD player handles standard audio CDs as well as WMA and MP3 encoded discs. The transport achieves a frequency response of 2 Hz – 20 kHz with wow and flutter below measurable limits at ±0.001%, ensuring precise and stable playback.
DAB/FM Tuner
The integrated tuner covers DAB, DAB+, and FM with RDS. The FM section operates from 87.50 MHz to 108.00 MHz with an effective sensitivity of 1.2 μV (75 ohms), a signal-to-noise ratio of 65 dB in mono and 60 dB in stereo, and stereo separation of 35 dB at 1 kHz. The DAB section covers Band III (174–240 MHz) with a sensitivity of −93 dBm (50 ohms).
Bluetooth & Connectivity
Bluetooth 4.0 is built in, supporting SBC and AAC codecs via the A2DP 1.3 and AVRCP 1.5 profiles, with an operating range of approximately 10 metres line-of-sight. A dedicated Bluetooth OFF mode is provided for those who prefer to keep the wireless radio disabled when not in use, avoiding any potential interference with critical listening. Two optical digital inputs allow connection of a television, games console, or network streamer, while an analogue AUX input accommodates sources such as a turntable with a built-in phono stage. A front-panel headphone output is also included.
Practical Features
The RCD-M41DAB includes a clock display, sleep timer, and a two-line fluorescent display for easy navigation. Its compact chassis — just 210 mm wide — and industrial design, derived from Denon’s flagship NE series separates, mean it takes up minimal shelf space while looking the part alongside the rest of a hi-fi system.
