The DALI Sonik On-Wall sits within the Sonik series as a purpose-built on-wall speaker, sharing its driver complement with the compact Sonik 1 bookshelf but housed in a slim enclosure just 123mm deep. Designed and developed at DALI's headquarters in Denmark, the Sonik range brings the company's proprietary driver technologies to a more accessible price point, positioned below the Oberon and Opticon series in the DALI hierarchy.
Driver Technology
The Sonik On-Wall is a 2-way bass reflex design employing a 29mm low-loss soft dome tweeter paired with a 5¼-inch woofer. The woofer uses DALI's Clarity Cone construction — a proprietary blend of paper and wood fibre that promotes lightweight rigidity and controlled resonance behaviour. This cone material is carried over from higher ranges in the DALI lineup and aims to deliver a smooth, articulate midrange with natural tonal balance. The magnet system incorporates DALI's patented SMC (Soft Magnetic Compound) material, which reduces mechanical hysteresis and eddy currents in the pole piece, lowering distortion and improving driver linearity.
On-Wall Design
The enclosure is engineered specifically for wall placement, with a down-firing bass reflex port tuned to 50 Hz that uses the wall surface as part of its acoustic loading. This arrangement extends low-frequency output beyond what the compact cabinet dimensions would otherwise suggest, with the speaker reaching down to 55 Hz (±3 dB). DALI recommends placement between 0 and 10 cm from the wall, or direct wall-mounting using the integrated keyhole brackets on the rear panel. The speaker can be mounted in portrait or landscape orientation — upright, sideways, or inverted — with the DALI logo on the fabric grille designed to rotate to match whichever orientation is chosen.
Versatile Application
The Sonik On-Wall is LCRS-capable, meaning it can serve as a left, centre, right, or surround channel in a multi-channel home cinema system, as well as functioning as a stereo pair for music listening. Its slim profile makes it suitable for rooms where floor space is limited — hallways, kitchens, dining areas, or dedicated cinema rooms where unobtrusive surround channels are needed. Single-wire binding post terminals are recessed into the rear mounting plate for a clean installation.
Build & Finish
The cabinet is finished in Black Ash with a magnetically attached fabric grille. Two grilles are included per pair, along with rubber pads and mounting hardware. The Sonik On-Wall is also available in White, Walnut, and Natural Oak finishes.
