The DALI Sonik 9 is the flagship floorstanding speaker in DALI's Sonik series, a seven-model range launched in February 2026 as the successor to the long-running Oberon line. Sitting at the top of the Sonik hierarchy above the Sonik 7, the Sonik 9 brings trickle-down engineering from DALI's premium KORE and EPICON ranges into a more accessible price bracket. It is a large, capable floorstander designed for medium to large rooms, delivering full-range sound from a 2½ + ½-way driver configuration with a rated frequency response of 34Hz–30kHz (±3 dB).
Driver Technology
The Sonik 9 employs three 7-inch drivers built around DALI's Clarity Cone membrane, a proprietary blend of paper and wood fibre engineered to minimise coloration and resonance. Two of these drivers handle bass duties in separate internal chambers, while the third operates as a dedicated midrange unit. All three are fitted with powerful double magnets incorporating DALI's SMC Essential (Soft Magnetic Compound) magnet system, which significantly reduces third-order harmonic distortion for cleaner, more detailed reproduction.
High frequencies are handled by DALI's hybrid tweeter module, combining a 29mm low-loss soft dome tweeter with a 17×45mm planar magnetostatic element. The dome tweeter, engineered for low mass and low mechanical loss, covers the primary high-frequency band, while the planar magnetostatic driver extends output beyond audible frequencies to 30kHz. The four-driver crossover network transitions at 400Hz, 2,100Hz, and 14,000Hz.
Cabinet Construction
The cabinet is CNC-machined from MDF with rigid internal bracing and separate chambers for each bass driver, reducing resonance and improving timing accuracy. The bass-reflex design uses rear-mounted Dual Flare ports tuned to 35Hz, shaped to minimise port turbulence at higher output levels. Custom-designed magnetic grilles attach without visible fixings, and an aluminium faceplate frames the hybrid tweeter module. Aluminium spike outriggers are included for stability on hard floors.
Connectivity & Amplifier Matching
The Sonik 9 features a single-wire binding post terminal developed in-house by DALI, compatible with bare wire, banana plugs, and spade connectors. With a sensitivity of 90dB (2.83V/1m) and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, the speaker is rated for amplifiers between 50 and 300 watts. Maximum sound pressure level is 111dB at 1 metre.
