DALI Sonik 5 Floorstanding Speakers Natural Oak (Pair)

The DALI Sonik 5 is the entry-level floorstanding speaker in DALI’s Sonik series, the successor to the long-running OBERON range. Positioned between the compact Sonik 1 and Sonik 3 standmounts below and the larger Sonik 7 and Sonik 9 floorstanders above, the Sonik 5 is designed for small to medium rooms where a full-range floorstander is desired but space is limited.

Driver Technology

The Sonik 5 is a 2-way bass reflex design built around a pair of 5¼-inch woofers using DALI’s Clarity Cone technology. The cones are formed from a blend of paper and wood fibre, a construction that delivers lightweight rigidity and controlled resonance behaviour through the midrange. High frequencies are handled by a 29mm wide-bandwidth soft dome tweeter.

SMC Essential Magnet System

Each woofer incorporates DALI’s SMC Essential magnet system, a technology that has trickled down from the company’s flagship EPICON range. The system uses a ferrite ring magnet surrounding a hybrid iron and SMC pole piece, which reduces hysteresis and eddy currents in the voice coil’s working zone. The result is lower third-order harmonic distortion and improved linearity across the driver’s operating range.

Cabinet Construction

The slim cabinet is constructed from CNC-machined MDF with internal bracing and separate bass driver chambers to control resonance and standing waves. Aluminium spike outriggers are included for secure floor coupling and stability. The design borrows visual cues from DALI’s higher-end EPIKORE series, including newly developed binding posts.

Performance

With a frequency response of 39 Hz – 26 kHz (±3 dB), 88 dB sensitivity, and a 6-ohm nominal impedance, the Sonik 5 is comfortable with amplifiers rated between 30 and 150 watts. Maximum sound pressure level is rated at 108 dB at one metre. The crossover point between the woofers and tweeter is set at 2,200 Hz.
